Nigeria's water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector is held back by several bottlenecks that impacts negatively on the citizen's rights to safe, clean, accessible, and affordable drinking water and sanitation as recognized by the United Nations. Service delivery is below expectation. Water losses are well above the tolerable rate of 20% in State Water Boards.
There is need to improve WASH sector transparency, accountability, and responsiveness by strengthening participatory processes for the development of state and local budgets and investment plans in the WASH sector.
Mangrove and Partners in collaboration with Women Empowerment Initiative (WEIN) is excited to announce the commencement of the WASH-STAR Radio program in Globe 98.5fm Bauchi, every Tuesday by 2pm. The radio program is a live citizen's enlightenment and action program that will foster the interest of residents including women, youths and persons with disabilities in Bauchi State on citizens' WASH rights and responsibility.

The WASH-STAR weekly program will provide a strong and persistent advocacy for water, sanitation and hygiene by enlightening indigenes of Bauchi to hold public officials to account and remind citizens of their responsibilities in sustainable WASH service delivery.
The radio program is part of the "Fostering Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Sector Transparency Accountability and Responsiveness (WASH-STAR)" project in Bauchi State. The project is under the State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity, a USAID funded program. To join the program online, kindly use the link below:
